bobo will be launching their new website later this month but for a sneak preview of their beautiful albums come and visit us on stand G32 at the National Wedding Show in Olympia this weekend, 24th-26th Februaury.

bobo albums are all handmade to order, are available in a multitude of sizes and wrapped in premium Italian leather in a myriad of contemporary colours.

Most importantly they are available to everyone and will appeal to couples who have their wedding pictures on a disc or those looking to upgrade from a photobook and are interested in a luxury album.

bobo have also just launched their facebook page so be amongst the first to visit, comment and hopefully ‘like’ here.

The National Wedding Show is attended by over 13,000 brides all looking to find that ‘something special’ from favours to dresses, teeth whitening to tiaras, cakes to confetti and photographers too of course – it’s all there under one very large roof.

2011 saw us photographing weddings at some fantastic new venues, such as The Dairy at  Waddesdon Manor, Clandon Park, Surrey, Beaumont Estate in Windsor,  Leeds Castle, Syon House, as well as at some of our old favourites such as Pembroke Lodge, Richmond and Orchardleigh in Somerset.

There’s a small taster of our new work below but please come back in a few days for lots more.

Well with time at weddings always at a premium and daylight a short commodity with winter weddings we found ourselves with a spare 20 minutes at the end of the wedding breakfast and before the first dance at about 8pm.

Location wise we chose an elegant, wood panelled room which although a perfect setting for the look and feel we wanted was really gloomy in terms of light, the venues use the word ‘atmospheric’ we just say ‘dark’.

Thankfully I’d sent the assisitant photographer on ahead of me to set up a couple of portable studio flash heads, a staple in our kit bag and I was able to quickly set up a pleasing balance of atmospheric house lighting and enough flash to light 11 people with sufficient depth of field to get everyone razor sharp. All that was left then was to prompt and encourage the requisite poses and pouts, something the women seemed to be able to do much better than the men (Groom aside – I’m joking Nick!)

We then had a little play in post-production to try and emulate the original shots, supplied to us by the clients beforehand (which I can’t unfortunately show for copyright reasons) and these are the results, the clients were delighted and so are we, not bad for a 20 minute shoot.

So why the upsurge in November weddings? well I think you can in part put it down to the recession with winter bookings costing less than peak season bookings, availibility – clients tend to find a ‘fit’ with a venue, to fall in love with it and rather than waiting for a summer slot to become available opt for a winter wedding instead, plus of course there’s the weather, always a big factor and to be honest in recent years your as likely to have clear blue skies and sunshine in November and December as you are in July and August.

Our busy November was topped off with a lovely ‘Notting Hill meets the Surrey hills’ wedding just a stone’s throw away from rightshots Surrey HQ at a lovely country hotel, which gave rise to an impromptu open mike singing session and an appearance by Florence of Florence and the machine fame.

We’ve never known a Novmeber like it and long may it continue!

We set up a small studio space with a crisp white background,  as well as taking some more candid portraits of the staff in their working environment.

Copyright restrictions prevent us from posting any images from the shoot at the moment, but you can see some other examples of our corporate work here.

That aside we were a little bit surprised (and disappointed) at the venues choice of Ceremony room. They hold them in the ‘Tapestry’ room which is really dark and dingy even on a sunny day (as this was) and flash photography is not allowed (in case it damages the tapestries – has that ever been proven?)

Despite that we still managed to take some cracking shots.
